The Saz is from the traditional Turkish baglama family of instruments.
However, what makes it unique is the material from which the strings are made – transforming physical vibrations into electric signals to generate sound by attaching a microphone-like electronic device to the acoustic instrument, much like pickups on an electric guitar.
Typically played with a flexible pick, also known as a mizrap, the instrument can also be performed fingerstyle too.
The instrument can generate many different tones when utilised with numerous performance techniques.
